Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus)

The bald eagle lives along the river banks—perched in the trees watching the river waters for fish. These birds are skillful fishers, and sit for long periods watching and waiting. They make easily recognizable large nests of twigs that have to be strong enough to hold the weight of this very large adults plus the fledgling eagles.

Their magnificent plumage is crowned by a cap of white feathers. The see them along the Kobuk river. Further north they give way to the Golden Eagle.
